Would You Date Him?
He had a great and continuous career in a tough business for about 15 years. However, he succumbed to the evils of that business and started using drugs. As a matter of fact, his whole family was using drugs and he was the last one to fall. He comes from an abusive family, and in 2007 he was arrested for domestic violence and vandalism. He was then arrested in 2008 for drug possession.
However, he has been released and is getting back to work.
He seems to be relying on God these days, as evidenced by a conversation he has with someone in his field. He recently performed at his job in a stellar manner and received a lot of praise for it.
So ladies…let’s hear it. Would you date him. Would you date El. DeBarge?

Once we were dating and I could discern that he was totally clean and relying solely on God to stay that way, then yes I would definitely date Eldra. I would have to gauge his behavior after the initial ‘getting to know period’ to see how he reacts to a disagreement to know if he would still have a tendency to be verbally or physically abusive although that alledged behavior could have been due to his drug use or it could be stemmed from how he saw his father treat his mother. If I saw him slipping back into his old ways then I would have to cut ties. But El is still fine and so talented and I would definitely give this brother a chance!
I agree Traci. It seems that he had a pretty clean life before the drugs. If he is truly off of them and thinking clearly, he might be a good catch.
Nope, I wouldn’t date him cuz I’m already married!
And,… if I was single, I probably still wouldn’t date him because as a Muslim woman I don’t “date”, plus,… I would only consider him for marriage if he would become a practicing Muslim. Uh oh, that’s a whole ‘nother blog post, isn’t it???!
I enjoyed this though. I was surprised by the concluding punch line! El Debarge! But, the entertainment industry is the devil’s den and very few escape with out being burned in some form or fashion. I pray that he finds true peace, happiness and purification. Besides, who needs drugs?? Life, love and purification of the heart is the best high I know of!!! Salvador Dali said, “I don’t do drugs, I AM drugs”, LOL! Life is wonderful, especially when you can see and express The Divine in all that you do! Love you!
Well said Akanke!!! Life is a wonderful, adventurous, rewarding, fulfilling drug!
